A lacquered sideboard with two sets of doors.
The overall condition of this sideboard is excellent. The original lacquer finishes have been well preserved.
The side board has two sets of doors and each set is decorated with a set of fluted metal plate. The plate is divided into two halves and each door takes one half of the plate. Therefore when the doors are closed, the two halves come together to form a decorated floral shape. On each half of the metal plate is a loop which allows a pin to go through to lock the doors. Additionally, underneath each loop is a fish shaped metal flap for the convenience of closing and opening of the doors. The fish shaped flap is not only for decoration purposes but for its symbolic meaning of abundance and wealth.
The structure of this sideboard is of standard mitred with mortised and tenoned frames which allow a floating panel to be inserted into the frame.
The spandrels on each side of the front under the table top is decorated with low relief carvings of foliage. The aprons are simple and un-decorated.
The legs are round on the exterior but the inward facing parts are square.
